It was love at first sight!
A hot-red, mid-engined exotic sports car for less than an econobox? The Fiero is an exceptional value and a unique car; imagine a baby Ferrari made from off-the-shelf GM parts. Many aspects of its design were well ahead of its time and are still rare in today's cars, such as a body made of plastic panels that will never rust.

Unfortunately, these innovative little cars have become quite scarce, since fewer than 30,000 of the GT versions were made before the car was discontinued in 1988. The 1988 Fiero GT's had the best brakes, suspension, steering, and drivetrain, and are the truest realization of the car's potential.

1988 GT's are very hard to come by, especially with a 5-speed, but I found this one only an hour's drive away, and with only 48,000 miles on it to boot.

UPDATE:
I opted NOT to buy the Fiero at the last minute and will stick with my '99 Acura Integra GS-R.
